Gay Marriage – lots of fun at our first pink wedding
This weekend we set off to rural Hampshire to play at a secret wedding. The party was supposedly for Tom’s 30th birthday – but he didn’t tell anyone that the day before he secretly got married – to Darrell! Yep – they said to tell you all – Loud and Proud! It was the first time we have played at a gay marriage, and beautiful it was too – emotional speeches, lots of party people and great cake! We’ve done a lot of first dances but this was the first to feature the Groom and Groom rather than the Bride and Groom! The venue was The Crown and Cushion in Minley, Hampshire – a very friendly pub with helpful staff. The function room was really cosy with a roaring log fire and suitably decked out for the Christmas season. The pub has an excellent kitchen and we can definitely recommend the courgette fritters!
We met up with our friends Anna and Ed again. Anna runs Buds Floristry in Basingstoke and does lots of weddings in the area so our paths cross from time to time. We played at Anna and Ed’s wedding a few years ago. That was where Tom and Darrell saw us and that’s how we came to get this booking. And what a great job Anna did for the flowers for Tom and Darrell’s wedding!
So, all in all, an interesting and different weekend for us. Best wishes to Tom and Darrell – now we’re looking forward to the next gay marriage . .
